Established by Adventist World Aviation, Wings for Humanity (WFH) is a legally incorporated, non-profit entity in Guyana, South America. WFH’s mission is to establish a communication and transportation infrastructure for medical and gospel ministry within the northwest area of Guyana known as Region 1. All health activities/initiatives that WFH will be involved in will be cooperative efforts with the Guyanese Ministry of Health (MOH) wherever possible. Cervical Cancer, Malaria, AIDS, infant mortality and poor nutrition are just some of the health concerns in Guyana. Slowing the high rate of Cervical Cancer among Amerindian women, treatment of the disease and studying the cause for the unusually high rate is a top priority from the highest level at the Ministry of Health. In addition, Region 1 is the most under-vaccinated region in all of Guyana. Bringing the region’s vaccination status to acceptable levels is a high priority at the MOH as they strive to avoid a potential epidemic. WFH will facilitate these efforts with transportation and personnel as required.
WFH personnel realize that the MOH and other Non-Government Organizations have initiatives already in motion on this topic in the region. WFHs involvement will be supplemental to these initiatives and efforts will be collaborative with the MOH and other groups to avoid duplication of efforts.
Gospel ministry will be in partnership with the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Pastor Andre Williams is responsible for the flock located throughout Region 1. WFH will provide transportation for Pastor Williams when necessary to assist him in evangelistic efforts and church management.
